Woman killed in three-vehicle crash near Mersing


MERSING: A woman was killed on the spot in a three-vehicle collision at Kampung Wak Salam, Jalan Mersing-Jemaluang on Monday (June 26).

The Johor Fire and Rescue Department operations centre said an emergency call was received at 2.59am on the accident, which involved 16 people.

“Seven firemen from Mersing station with one Light Fire Rapid Tender vehicle were deployed to the scene," station chief Abdul Muiz Mokhtar said in a statement.

He said the accident involved three men in one car, three men and two young girls in the second, and four men, three women and a young girl in the third.

"A woman in the third car was pronounced dead at the scene by a Health Ministry medical team," he said.

All the other occupants of the vehicles sustained injuries, he added.

Abdul Muiz said the injured victims were sent to Hospital Mersing for treatment while the deceased's body was handed over to police for further action.
